How to write an essay on the changing ocean?

I am supposed to be writing about the changes that are happening in the ocean right now but I don't know if I want to go about it in a chronological sense or if I should group different parts of the ocean around the world into groups and talk about it like that. I feel like the latter might be a whole lot easier and plus I can always tie it back into each other. Let me know if you have any ideas.
